 Throughout my career with over 20 years of services I’ve worked with a wide range of clients and have often found myself providing emotional support, almost acting as an informal therapist. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had within our community. However, when I first started, there were no resources available for stylists to help clients with mental health struggles. I remember moments when a client would sit in my chair, start crying, and I’d think I did something wrong, but in reality, they were experiencing personal struggles and just needed someone to talk to. Some clients would keep their emotions hidden, while others felt the need to share. Now that we’ve made strides in mental health awareness, I’m eager to expand my knowledge and support this important mission. That’s why I want to invest in further education and resources, particularly with the goal of incorporating what I learn to help others, especially in underserved communities.
