KIVA Peer Support Ambassador:
Alesandra Mahlert
As a second-generation independent hairstylist with a decade of experience behind the chair, I’ve always felt a strong connection to this art form. Growing up, I watched my mother and aunts transform lives through their skills, and I knew that doing hair was my calling. Once I began styling, I realized how much I could offer my guests—not just a new look, but a safe space for them to express their true selves.
Being on the spectrum and living with OCD has shaped my approach to hairstyling in unique ways. I strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone from all walks of life can feel comfortable and celebrated. My experiences have deepened my compassion and understanding, allowing me to connect with my guests on a personal level.
I am passionate about giving back to my community and am constantly exploring new avenues to do so. I am especially excited about the opportunity to learn with Kiva, as I believe that personal growth is intertwined with community support. Now more than ever, we need each other, and I’m eager to make a meaningful impact.
